As I’m sure you are well aware, Northern California and the Southern Plain to the lower Mississippi Valley saw copious amounts of rainfall last week. The West Coast saw numerous atmospheric rivers bring a nearly continuous stream of moisture into CA, OR, and WA, while one of the stronger shortwaves peeled southeast and moved over central Mexico. There were reports of snow in some unusual places south of the border, meanwhile tremendous rainfall of up to 15-20″ fell in parts of northern Louisiana and into portions of Texas and Mississippi. These systems can be seen in the below GeoColor animation that covers 7 days of wild weather. Enjoy!

A 7-day GeoColor animation spanning 3/6/16 – 3/12/16 shows numerous systems hitting the West Coast, while a large upper-low cuts off over old Mexico. Imagery courtesy of CIRA through the GOES-R and JPSS Proving Grounds.
